So don't blame me if it's not any good. "How Do I Get There" is by Deana Carter and "Angel In My Eyes" is by John Michael Montgomery. I would like to say merry Christmas to all my friends. Well, here's the story. Another Song Megan Harris "You were an Indian Guide, help me out here." Scully said as she tried unsuccessfully to start a fire. "Indian Guide says maybe you should run to the store and get some matches." Mulder said jokingly. "I woud but I left my wallet in the car." Scully said as she walked back to sit by Mulder. She got out her gun and started opening it. "What are you doing?" Mulder asked. "I'm trying to open my gun." Scully replied. "If I can separate the shell from the casing maybe I can get the powder to ignite." Scully explained further. "And maybe it'll start raining weenies and marshmallows." Mulder joked. "Do I detect a hint of negativity?" "No. Yes actually, yeah." Mulder said. Scully looked over at Mulder and noticed that he was shivering. "Mulder, you need to keep warm. Your body's still in shock." Scully told him. "I was once told that the best way to regenerate body heat is to crawl naked into a sleeping bag with somebody else who is already naked." Mulder said wishing that they had a sleeping bag. "Maybe if it rains sleeping bags you'll get lucky." Scully said smiling. She, too, was wising that it would rain sleeping bags. "Have you ever thought seriously about dying?" Scully asked becoming serious again. "Yeah once, when I was at the ice capades." Mulder joked. "When I was fighting my cancer, I was angry at the injustice of it. And its meaninglessness. And then I realized that that was the struggle, to give it meaning. To make sense of it. It's like life." Scully said. "I think that nature is supremely indifferent to whether we live or die. I mean if you're lucky you get 75 years. If you're really lucky you get 80 years. And if you're extraordinarily lucky you get 50 of those years with a decent head of hair." Mulder said. "I guess it's like Las Vegas. The house always wins." Scully said. "Oh." Scully gasped as the shell opened. "Ta-da." "Go girl." Mulder said. As Scully went over to start the fire Mulder said, "Hey, who did you identify with when you were a kid? Wilma or Betty?" "I identified with Betty's bustline." Scully said. "Yes, I did too." Mulder said. "Could never have been married to Barney though. The kids were cute." "Yeah, but where are they today." And as Mulder said that the fire flared up then fizzled out. Scully turned to look at Mulder, "Moth men? Really?" "Yeah, but there seem to be only two of them. As Mulder said that Scully walked back to sit by him. After she sat down she started bringing Mulder closer to her. "I don't want to wrestle." Mulder said. "Get over here. I'm going to try to keep you warm." Scully said. "One of us has to stay awake, Scully." Mulder said. "You sleep, Mulder." "If you get tired, you wake me." "I'm not going to get tired." "Why don't you sing something." "No, Mulder." "If you sing something I'll know you're awake." "Mulder, you don't want me to sing." "Just sing anything." Mulder said. Scully sighed as she tried to think of something to sing. Mulder had given her a perfect opportunity to tell him how much she loved him. She finally though of a perfect song. She decided that it was now or never. So she started singing. We've always been the best of friends With no secrets and no demands But suddenly from somewhere out of the blue I see a different light around you One thing I haven't told you I just want to hold you And never let go I need to know *What is she singing?* thought Mulder. Could it be possible that this was her way of telling him that she loved him? How do I get there from here? How do I make you see? How do I tell you what my heart's been telling me? Lost in your loving arms That's where I want to be You know I love you How do I get there? He was right, she was telling him that she loved him. He decided to stop thinking about what she was singing and just listen to the song. You probably think I've lost my mind Taking this chance Crossing that line But I promise to be truer than true Dreaming every night with these arms around you I can't wait any longer This feeling's getting stronger Help me find a way How do I get there from here? How do I make you see? How do I tell you what me heart's been telling me? Lost in your loving arms That's where I want to be You know I love you How do I get there? The shortest distance between two points Is a straight line And I'll climb any mountain that you want me to climb The greatest combination is your heart and mine How do I get there from here? How do I make you see? How do I tell you what my heart's been telling me? Lost in your loving arms That's where I want to be You know I love you How do I get there? How do I get there from here? How do I make you see? How do I tell you what my heart's been telling me? Lost in your loving arms That's where I want to be You know I love you How do I get there? "That was beautiful, Scully." said Mulder. "Oh." gasped Scully. "I thought you were asleep." "Did you mean it?" asked Mulder. "Mean what, Mulder?" Scully asked trying to feign innocence. "Did you mean what you sang?" Mulder asked again. "Of course I meant it." Scully replied. "I feel the same way about you." Mulder said. "Really?" Scully asked. "Of course." Mulder answered. "Then sing me a song." Scully demanded. "Okay." Mulder said. He knew the perfect song to sing to her. I watch you lying dead asleep And count my lucky stars For every second you're here with me I want to hold you in my arms You are my day You are my night You are the breath that gives me life Sometimes we laugh Sometimes we cry Sometimes we fight And we don't know why But know matter what You believe in me You're the closest thing to heaven I'll ever see You'll always be An angel in my eyes Sometimes I feel you by my side Like you're watching over me I feel a chill running down my spine And that's all the proof I need That you fill my heart You fill my soul You are the half that makes me whole Sometimes we laugh Sometimes we cry Sometimes we fight And we don't know why But no matter what You believe in me You're the closest thing to heaven I'll ever see You'll always be An angel in my eye Sometimes we laugh Sometimes we cry Sometimes we fight And we don't know why But no matter what You believes in me You're the closest thing to heaven I'll ever see You'll always be You'll always be You'll always be An angel in my eyes "That was beautiful." said Scully. She was almost on the verge of tears. "I've always felt that way about you." Mulder said. And just as Scully was about to say something, they heard a loud THUMP. "What was that?" asked Mulder. "I don't know, buy I'm going to find out. You wait here." When Scully walked over to the bushes she gasped at what she saw. "What is it?" Mulder asked. "You're not going to believe this." Scully said. "Tell me anyway." "Mulder, it's a sleeping bag." Scully said. The End Did ya like it? Let me know either way. mjh@psnw.com. I know the beginning was a little deja vu. But that was the only place I could think of to start it. Bye.
