Blair + + + + + + + + + + + + + + Mulder saw the droplets of blood on the sleeve of his shirt as he sat down on the steps at Franklin Community College. He was dialing Scully's cell number when a message appeared on his phone. He stared at the message, "All done. Bye- bye," and then it suddenly reverted to Scully's number. He could hear Scully's voice bordering on concern when she called out his name. He answered, mumbling her name. "Scully, I...had something strange just happen now." Meanwhile, Scully was standing near the ambulance entrance at Franklin Community Hospital, holding her cell phone in her hand. She had listened intently to what Mulder said and she was now worried for him. "Mulder, are you all right?" "I'm not...sure. When I was calling you, my cell phone did an odd thing. It gave me an alpha readout; it said, 'all done. Bye-bye.' At first, I thought I was seeing things...but now, I --" "Do you want me to come over?" she asked, her voice riddled with concern for her partner. She paused as the ambulance stopped and the paramedics got out. She watched them unload Edward Funsch and take him into the emergency room. "Mulder, Mr. Funsch just arrived." "Can you examine him?" "Of course, Mulder. Then we need to talk." "I'll meet you at your motel room, Scully, then we'll talk." She looked at her watch and then sighed. "Mulder, that's not a good idea. I think it might be better if I go to your motel room instead. It'll probably take a few hours. I'll call you when I'm finished." "I will see you then, Scully." "All right, Mulder." Mulder heard a click after Scully turned off her cell. He frowned. He stared again at the phone in his hand. It took everything Mulder had to remain in control and fight the shock that was hindering him. He tried hard to clear his mind, but he couldn't. He closed his eyes, remembering when he was sprayed with the chemical, LSDM, which left a fear- like response and caused subliminal messages. He gathered his strength and told himself that he was going to be all right. That was enough to keep him sane. For the moment. * * * Mulder was sprawled out on his bed when he saw the doorknob turn and sighed with relief when he saw Scully standing there. Shock was settling in his brain. He was agitated. The case brought back some unpleasant memories of his exposure to the spray in 1989. "Scully, what did you find?" "Mulder, are you OK?" He nodded. "I think so. It's just this case, Scully. Did you examine Funsch?" She sat down beside him on the bed. "Yes, I did. He is severely agitated. It took awhile for me to conduct an exam because he doesn't like doctors." She paused, looking squarely at him. "I've never seen that much fear in one person." Mulder looked at Scully with a serious expression on his face. "Never?" He paused briefly and then continued: "Not even...me?" "Mulder, I've examined you myself. You don't possibly think you're going to be the next Edward Funsch, do you?" "That begs the question, doesn't it?" He drew a deep breath. He wanted to let her know what he had experienced that night in 1989 and then he saw the concern in her eyes. He sighed as he decided to tell her about his fears. "It happened before, Scully." Scully looked at him directly in the eyes and then she drew a deep breath herself. "I have examined you, Mulder. Although you were sprayed with the chemical, you don't seem to suffer the effects as the others like Edward Funsch. You don't show any signs of paranoia..." "But, Scully, this isn't the first time I've been sprayed by a chemical." "It's not?" Mulder shook his head and looked into Scully's blue eyes. He was touched by her compassion for him. "Back in 1989, I was working on a case searching for this woman, Susanne Modeski, for the Violent Crimes Unit. In the process, I was sprayed by this chemical...I don't remember what it even was...but it caused some hallucinogenic reactions. I saw these shadowy figures...and it made me think of things in a whole new light." "And you think you're going to hallucinate?" Scully asked. Mulder nodded. "It's not that far fetched, Scully." "Do you still see subliminal messages, Mulder?" "You mean...since this afternoon?" Scully nodded. "Yes, that's what I mean." "Not since this afternoon, Scully." "I can assure you that you're not going to suffer from a severe agitated fear response like Edward Funsch. They were sprayed severely over a long period of time, Mulder. You were only dosed once," Scully said. Her voice was laced with worry. "You're going to be all right. I know you will." They had nothing to worry about now - the case was over and all he had to do was to file a case report with Skinner. Although he was concerned about the effects of LSDM, he felt relieved that he had no cause to worry. He wanted to be with Scully. "I hope you're right, Scully. It's just that I remember how it was like." "Mulder?" "It's just that I fear that I'm going to lose myself. I can't let that happen." "You have nothing to fear. I hope you'll believe me." "I do believe you, Scully. It's just that..." "Mulder, what I have to reveal to you is hard for me. I want you to know how much I care for you. I care so much about you. I miss seeing you every day." "I miss you too, Scully." She nodded. "I miss us." "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Scully nodded. "I want us to be together. I don't care what the ramifications will be." Mulder drew a deep sigh of relief. He looked into Scully's hopeful blue eyes and saw the compassion within her soul. God, he was so mesmerized by her beauty. He was weakening and he knew it. He pulled her close to him and he felt the smooth satin of her body wrapped around him for an embrace. He ran his hands through her thick, lustrous red hair. He brushed her bangs away from her face and smiled at her. "You don't know how much I've dreamed about this moment, Scully." "This isn't a hallucination, Mulder. You're all right to me," Scully murmured as she tiptoed up to him so she could gently brush his lips with a kiss. "This feels right." "I don't want you to do something that you're going to regret later." "Mulder, we don't have to worry about that. We're not partners anymore - well, not in the official sense of the word, but I want us to be partners in the personal sense of the word." "You do?" Scully nodded. "Don't look so shocked, Mulder. I want us to be together." Mulder didn't know what to say at first, but she decided it for him by unbuttoning her trench coat and slowly taking it off. He was shocked. For a moment there, he looked at her in stunned silence. "Scully?" Scully looked into his hazel eyes and she gave him a bright smile. "I'm more certain about this than I ever dreamed, Mulder. When you called me, I was worried for you. When I ran those tests on you, I was so relieved that you were all right. I don't want to lose you." Mulder nodded. "I don't know what would happen if -" "I know." He carefully pulled her down onto the bed and watched her slip off her shoes. He slowly undressed her first with his eyes and then with his hands. He had some trouble unbuttoning her black blazer. He gave her a wry grin. "They make these buttons a bit too small for me." Scully nodded and laughed at his comment. "I know." She paused briefly as she looked down at her blazer. She gave him a rueful smile. "I guess they should have made the buttons a bit larger for your hands. I'll help you." She helped him to maneuver the buttons through the holes and then her blazer came undone. She helped him gently remove her creamy white blouse over her head. She watched him gently sliding off her skirt. After she was naked, she helped him to undress himself and placed his clothes on the floor where her own clothes were already in a pile. All their preparations to make love had caused her to be aroused. She couldn't wait to feel him pulsating in her body. She wanted him to take her now - not a few minutes later. "I can't wait, Mulder. I need you to take me now." Mulder nodded. The anticipation of getting inside her body had almost worn him down. He carefully got on top of her, kissing her red lips. He didn't want to hurt her; he wanted to take his time before entering her. They lay down on the bed, feeling happy to have this moment to enjoy each other. He stroked her smooth skin in tiny circles on her abdomen and then he kissed her breasts until they were moist by his lips. He planted tender kisses on her neck, then finally moved to her luscious lips. He felt the warmth of her body underneath him as his cock entered her. He saw her smile with pleasure and he knew that this was what he had wanted to do ever since he first met her that day in the basement office. He stroked her hair gently with his hands. "Scully, I love you." Scully smiled at him. "I know." She enjoyed the heated kisses between the two of them. She saw how he stroked her abdomen and her breasts with his hands. Mulder's voice became a bit more breathy. "Scully! I can't hold it any longer. I need you now. Are you close?" She nodded. She softly moaned each time she came into the throes of passion. "Mulder, yes, yes..." She felt as though she was riding on a wave when the orgasm hit and she gave an erotic moan. "Oh! Oh, my God!" She gazed at him, feeling so content and exhilarated while she felt this fervor for him flowing through her veins. When she came to him, she felt a euphoric rush flowing through her body. She felt so alive in his arms. Ever since she had first met him, she always felt a surge of energy whenever she was with him - that they were meant to be together. "Scully, you're so beautiful," he whispered. He kissed the strands of red hair and then his lips touched hers. "This is what I've always dreamed." "Am I your fantasy?" Mulder nodded. "I had these fantasies of making love to you ever since that day you walked into my life." "Care to share?" "In one of them, we had sex on top of the desk." "I think we should try that next time," Scully said. She smiled at him and then she looked into his soulful hazel eyes. She knew he was feeling the same way. She saw his love for her etched on his face. Her smile deepened as she lay there blissfully in his arms, knowing how blessed she was that they had finally made the right decision to take a huge step in their relationship. * * * In the morning, they were laying in each other's arms. The sheets were twisted from their vigorous lovemaking that had lasted until the early morning hours. He saw the gentle smile on her face and it brought him tiny droplets of tears shining in his eyes. He hoped that this feeling of happiness would last. He saw her eyes were slowly opening as they adjusted to the light. "Good morning, Scully." Scully was now fully awake after a blissful night in Mulder's arms. "Good morning." She paused. "That was some night." "I know. I would love to be able to make love to you every single day." "Like that song, "Joy to the World?" Mulder nodded. "Yes, that one by Three Dog Night." "It's definitely not the Christmas song, 'Joy to the World.'" "Do you have any regrets about what we did last night?" Scully's eyes grew serious. "I have no regrets, Mulder. I wanted to be in your arms, making love to you." Her lips gently caressed his lips like a soft feather and then she wrapped her arms around him. He looked at her and saw how her smile brightened up her features. "This is nice." "I know." "We should do this more often." "I agree." She paused, fingering through his thick brown hair. "I love you, Mulder." "Scully, I - " "You look speechless." "You caught me by surprise, that's all." "Mulder?" Mulder gave her a tender smile. He knew their relationship would be different and he knew that this was the start of a new chapter in their lives. "Scully, I love you too." "I know. I just want to savor every single moment because this is the first time that we've ever made love," Scully said. She was smiling as she looked into his eyes. She knew her eyes lit with happiness. "Our hearts are finally united, Mulder." He nodded. "I know, Scully. I felt it last night when we were making love. Our hearts are awakened." He knew she was right. When they were together on that motel bed, he felt a strong connection to her. He knew she was a part of him, that their hearts and souls had finally stirred. ~~~~ The End ~~~~
